Why people do it
When The Original Software Needs To Go Back
Common reasons owners give for going back to standard:
- Selling the vehicle, or part-exchanging it
- Handing back a lease or finance car
- Dealer or warranty work on the engine
- Changing insurer, or no longer wanting a modified vehicle
What it involves
What Going Back To Stock Involves
Back to stock means reading the engine computer and writing standard software back to it: the original file saved when the vehicle was remapped, if there is one, or a standard file that matches the engine computer and its software version. Tell us who remapped the vehicle and when, and we tell you what applies to yours.
A remap that included a DPF delete or other emissions changes is different: the software can go back to standard, but the vehicle will only run and pass the MOT properly once the removed equipment is refitted.

What Does Back To Stock Mean?
Writing standard manufacturer software back into the engine computer of a remapped vehicle.
Why Would I Put My Car Back To Stock?
The common reasons are selling the vehicle, handing back a lease or finance car, dealer or warranty work on the engine, or no longer wanting a modified vehicle.
Do I Need The Original File?
It helps. If the original file was saved when the vehicle was remapped, that file goes back on. If not, a standard file that matches the engine computer and its software version is used. Tell us who remapped it and when.
Can A Deleted DPF Or AdBlue Go Back To Stock?
The software can be returned to standard. For the vehicle to work properly and pass the MOT, any emissions equipment that was removed also has to be refitted and working.
How Much Is Back To Stock?
From £200. The exact price depends on the vehicle and on whether the original file exists, so send the registration and you get it before anything is booked.
